Giselle Monterio is a Brazilian model. She portrays Harleen Kaur in the 2009 Indian film Love Aaj Kal.

She was purposely kept under wraps during the film’s promotion. Following the film’s release, her identity was revealed, and it was also revealed that she came to audition for another part in the film but landed in the role of Harleen because the film’s director, Imtiaz Ali, thought she’d fit the part.

Harleen Kaur of ‘Love Aaj Kal’ is 19-year-old Brazilian model named Giselle Monteiro, who had approached Ali to audition for the role of Jo, Saif’s Swiss girlfriend in the film.

The tall, slim and strikingly pretty actress has generated curiosity ever since the film’s promos went on air, howver people behind the movie managed to keep her identity hidden.

Imtiaz Ali says if audiences had known beforehand that a Brazilian is playing a Punjabi girl-next-door in his film, they may have been put off by the idea, so that’s why her identity was hidden all this while.

Giselle does not know how to speak Hindi. But in the film she has only two lines to speak, which were dubbed.
