Swapan Jhawar who is 42-year-old posted compromising photographs of the woman taken by a hidden camera at his residence 6 months back on a pornographic website. He then threatened to mail the photographs to her husband. Swapan Jhawar was arrested by the Salt Lake North police station following a complaint by the woman. A court remanded him in police custody.

A manager in a leading IT company, Jhawar had met the 32-year-old woman at his office on Park Street. The lady is an employee of another IT company near Jhawar's office. Jhawar offered to help her find a better job. Soon, they struck up a friendship which developed into an affair. Both are married.

According to the wom-an, Jhawar took her to his Gariahat flat six months ago and secretly took her photos in a compromising position. The woman told police he used a hidden ca-mera to click her pictures and she had no idea she was being photographed.

The relationship soured about two weeks back. The lady was no longer keen to carry on with the extramarital affair as she feared her husband might find out. But Jhawar was not ready to let her go. When he failed to persuade her, Jhawar started threatening the woman. He called her and threatened to disclose the affair to her husband if she refused to meet him.

She kept ignoring the techie's threat to disclose their affair to her husband till she received a mail from Jhawar. "It had links to a pornographic site that had her pictures with Jhawar," said a police officer. The woman decided to go to the police after Jhawar threatened to mail them to her husband.

Jhawar was arrested from his Gariahat residence on Wednesday. He has been charged under the IT Act for posting obscene photographs on the website. The techie has also been charged with blackmailing the woman and threatening her. "We are looking into the case. Investigations are on," said Debabrata Das, additional superintendent, Salt Lake.
