Five men, including a 52-year-old Datuk have been charged at a magistrate’s court here under Section 39 (B) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 with trafficking in 300kg of Erimin pills worth RM20mil.

Datuk Koay Khay Chye, who has five previous convictions, including theft, firearms and corruption, was charged with Ang Choon Beng, 24, Neoh Soon Par, 41, Mohamad Ziraldean Mohd Tanzi, 21, and Ramli Abu Hassan, 34.

They will face the mandatory death penalty if convicted for the offence.

The five were arrested during a drug bust behind Suew King building in Jalan Sungai Dua here while transferring the nimetazepam pills (marketed under brand name Erimin) on July 28 at about 11.30pm.

Magistrate Noor Fadzila Ishak fixed Sept 10 for mention pending the chemist report.

Koay, Ang and Neoh were represented by counsel Datuk Hanif Hashim while the two others were not represented.

Koay is believed to be involved in a tyre business in Selangor
